Alternative Education at Seed & Rise

Seed & Rise Education offers an alternative education pathway for children aged 6-12 who may not thrive in mainstream settings. Our approach is personalised, flexible, and child-centred — designed to support learning, wellbeing, and confidence through tailored education, small group provision, and integrated therapeutic support.

Therapeutic services are also available from age 3+, supporting communication, regulation, and emotional development within a nurturing environment.

Assessment-Led Planning

Every child’s journey begins with understanding. We use assessment-led planning to identify strengths, challenges, and next steps, ensuring education and support are thoughtfully matched to the child.

This may include EHCPs, independent assessments, school reports, or in-house observations, helping us create clear, supportive learning pathways for each child.

Planning is informed by collaboration with families, schools, and professionals where appropriate, ensuring learning goals are aligned, realistic, and meaningful for each child’s journey.

Personalised Learning

Personalised learning at Seed & Rise means creating a bespoke plan around each child — shaped by their interests, strengths, needs, and pace.

Learning may include academic support, creative activities, life skills, therapy-informed sessions, or movement-based learning, depending on what helps the child engage and thrive.

All plans are guided by assessments, EHCPs, and professional reports, with clear goals and gentle progress tracking to support meaningful development over time.

Small Group Learning

Learning at Seed & Rise often takes place in small, carefully matched groups. Groups are formed based on similar learning levels and needs, rather than age alone, allowing children to learn at a shared pace in a calm and supportive environment.

Small groups are typically led by a specialist teacher, with the support of a teaching assistant, ensuring each child receives attention, guidance, and encouragement while also benefiting from peer interaction.

Creative Arts Exploration

Creative arts at Seed & Rise are used as purposeful learning tools. Children may take part in drawing, painting, collage-making, cutting, gluing, modelling, and mixed-media activities.

These experiences support fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, planning, focus, and confidence, while also encouraging self-expression and creativity. Activities are thoughtfully chosen to support individual learning goals and life skills, and to help children engage in learning in a calm and meaningful way.

Holistic Learning

Our holistic approach to learning brings together education, life skills, emotional wellbeing, and physical development to support the whole child. Learning may involve academic work alongside activities that develop communication, self-regulation, independence, and social skills.

This may include movement-based learning, practical life tasks such as organising belongings or preparing simple food, and guided routines that support focus, confidence, and emotional understanding. By connecting learning to real-life experiences, children are supported to develop skills that extend beyond the classroom.

Outdoor Learning

Seed & Rise Education encourages outdoor learning experiences that support curiosity, sensory development, and real-world understanding.

Activities may include gardening projects such as planting, growing, and caring for fruit, vegetables, and flowers, helping children develop sensory awareness, responsibility, and an understanding of healthy eating and the natural world. Outdoor learning may also include nature walks, forest visits, and small group storytime sessions in outdoor settings, supporting communication, imagination, and emotional regulation in a calm, natural environment.
